To sustainably develop as the country’s leading port, Vietnam’s main maritime gateway to other countries in the region and around the world.
The Vietnam Marine Strategy has set a target that by 2020, we will strive to make our country a strong nation in the sea and get rich from the sea. In particular, the key task is to develop the seaport system, logistics with fair competition with countries in the region and the world.
The port is aimed at meeting the import and export demand of general goods, serving the socio-economic development of Binh Thuan province and neighboring provinces in the South Central Coast and the Central Highlands. The size of the port is designed to include 2 berths of 50,000 DWT and 1 berths of 100,000 DWT.

According to Mr. Nguyen Xuan Sang, Director of the Vietnam Maritime Administration, the seaport is one of the five transport infrastructure, is the gateway for import and export goods and is the hub for converting modes of transport from transport. sea freight to railway, road and inland waterway transport. Therefore, the seaport system and logistics services associated with seaport operation always play a particularly important role
According to the plan from 2020 onwards, the strategic items of Vinh Tan International Port are identified as Ilmenite, fly ash, construction sand and stone, cement, aluminum, project equipment, containers. In which potential and important is still fly ash, construction sand and stone, equipment of renewable energy production projects (wind power, solar power) for Binh Thuan, South Ninh Thuan … Especially with the container industry, Vinh Tan International Port is currently coordinating domestic and international shipping lines, industrial zones in Binh Thuan province and domestic and foreign customers. Thereby promoting the pre-feasibility study, surveying the market in order to achieve the goal of deploying container services to the port soon by 2022. In which, the main force is dry container (packing raw materials and finished goods). garment products, footwear, furniture, rubber, chemicals …), containers of frozen goods (for transporting dragon fruit – aquatic products of Binh Thuan, grapes – apples in Ninh Thuan, vegetables and fruits in Da Lat …).
With an area including a harbor area of nearly 39 hectares and a back-port area of 56 hectares, Vinh Tan International Port is expected to flourish in 2020 with cargo throughput of at least 500,000 tons and soon reaching 1 million tons in the next 1 or 2 years .
